Perform general maintenance and repair operations, to ensure overall plant, equipment, machinery and tools are in good operating condition while working in many of the diversified capacities required by maintenance.
*Primary Function:*
To inspect, repair, and make welding repairs as necessary, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical equipment, including hydraulic equipment, in a producing unit or assigned areas.
Welding test for Maintenance Technician I consists of welding 3 samples in the horizontal, flat and vertical positions in a Tee formation.
Test pieces will be subject to break/bend test by offsite party.
*Working Procedures:*
1.
Completes all required regulatory/safety training & will follow all safety rules & requirements including maintaining a clean work area.
* Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done
* Performs preventative maintenance and inspects mill equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear insufficient lubrication, hydraulic system, etc.
Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
* Effectively and efficiently dismantles, cleans, repairs (welding repairs when necessary), replaces, installs, maintains, assembles hydraulic equipment, and lubricates mechanical equipment by the use of predictive technologies in the capabilities of pipefitter, welder, millwright, assembler, installer, etc.
* Adjusts equipment for proper operating gears, bearing, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits.
Operates simple machine tools, such as drill press, pipe-threading machine, power saw, etc.
* Babbitts and scrapes bearing as required.
Erects scaffolds and performs all rigging as necessary.
* Performs all mechanical repairs as required on cranes and mobile equipment
* Lays out, installs, maintains, and repairs all types of pipe lines, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems as required.
* Repairs leaks in hydraulic systems.
Replaces section of pipe that have sprung leaks.
Removes and installs complete operating components, such as cylinders, oil motors, four way valves, check valves, etc.
that are kept as spares for assemblies on production units and makes necessary repairs to same.
* Changes, sets up, and adjusts equipment as required by current operation conditions
* Utilizes all required computer systems for planning, executing, and reporting
* Certification in fork truck, various overhead cranes, man-lifts (scissor lifts) and other mobile equipment as required in maintenance activities.
* Utilizes mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment, computer equipment, , and/or a variety of precision instruments as necessary
* Performs general mechanical repairs on mobile equipment, including cranes
* Performs other duties and work assignments as required and directed
* Works with repair crews as directed and/or required
*Requirements:*
High School Diploma or GED
Successful completion of all requirements necessary to graduate from the Wilton Maintenance Training Program and/or successfully meeting the following requirements:
· Passing the proficiency tests for the various coursework of the Wilton Maintenance Training Program or
· Equivalent maintenance work experience in an industrial environment performing the technical requirements and skills developed and sought by the Wilton Maintenance Training Program
