As you can see it's a little rough (if it were in nice condition, I would be selling it, not giving it away for free).
The top does open up, it can actually tilt open and can stay open while you're playing if you want, and/or it also has a nice wood built-in music stand that tilts up when the lid is opened.
It has a lot of cosmetic issues, including this weird chipping on all of the keys (maybe a Dremel can smooth those out?).
There is also a sound issue, the keys on the lower register (the lowest octave) and the upper register (highest one and a half octaves) sound like the sustain pedal is being used when it is not? Middle register keys seem fine, though it's Definitely in need of tuning.
A few light scratches in the wood here and there, also includes a piano bench with several piano instruction books of varying skill levels, and several of those books are old/vintage.
It could be a nice piano with a little TLC by someone who knows how.
